Rebuilding Together, Springfield, MA, USA affiliate announces an event called “Funnel Your Energy for Rebuilding Together…Rebuilding 25 Homes in 25 Days” tornado recovery effort October 1-5, 2011.

The “Funnel Your Energy for Rebuilding Together” event brings Rebuilding Together Springfield volunteers from throughout the region to rebuild 25 tornado-affected homes in 5 days in Springfield.

“The June 1, 2011 tornadoes left a devastating impact on so many people in Springfield,” says Rebuilding Together Springfield Executive Director Colleen Loveless. “Our goal is to help relieve some of the burden people face when home repairs fall outside of insurance coverage or carries a high, unaffordable deductible.”

Volunteers and donations from local and regional businesses will be integral to “Funnel Your Energy for Rebuilding Together.”

“Every helping hand matters for a project like this,” says Loveless. “Having companies and individuals pledging financial donations, volunteers and building material donations throughout the week is huge.”

About Rebuilding Together
Founded in 1992, the Springfield Chapter of Rebuilding Together™ has helped hundreds of homeowners throughout the city.  Rebuilding Together is the nation’s leading nonprofit with over 200 affiliates working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities.  We perform critical repairs to the homes of low-income Americans that consist of: families with children, the elderly, military veterans and the disabled. Each year, 250,000 volunteers in towns and cities all over America tackle the shaky railings, peeling paint and rotting steps that plague low income homeowners who don’t have the means to fix these problems. Using materials, supplies and equipment donated by national corporate sponsors and local civic-minded businesses, Rebuilding Together volunteers transform entire neighborhoods, and in the process, we transform lives.
